Challenge

Saltwell Park in Gateshead is one Britains finest examples of a Victorian park and was owned by William Wailes who sold the estate to Gateshaed Council. It soon became known as “The Peoples Park”

In June 2023 MGM were tasked with the job of rebuilding a boundary pillar which had been struck by a vechile. Careful planning was required between ourselves and Gateshead Council to limit the diruption to the public. Traffic management was brought in to assist us with lifting the large and heavy pillar blocks off prior to rebulding using a Hi-ab parked adjacent to the pillar.

Site Challenges

MGM worked hand in hand with estates team and Gateshead Council to ensure all works were completed in a timely manner. Other works included removing vegetation to the internal face of the boundary pillar to allow for scaffolding to be erected to allow us safe access. Also sections of fencing were removed and welded back on  once the pillar had been rebuilt.
