As MGM Construction continues to expand its capabilities across complex and specialist projects, bringing in the right expertise is key. We’re proud to welcome Brian Ellison, who joins the business as a Contracts Manager, adding over three decades of experience, specifically within the heritage and conservation sector.

Brian’s background is in stonemasonry, which gives him a thorough knowledge of

traditional materials and techniques. From such practical beginnings he has built an impressive career moving up through increasingly senior roles, where his on-site knowledge is balanced with the strategic management of projects.

A Specialist in Heritage and Conservation

What sets Brian apart is his specialism in heritage construction. His extensive experience on listed buildings and restoration projects has been invaluable in developing the understanding needed to work within sensitive, historically important environments.

He has knowledge across the complete project lifecycle – from initial surveys and tendering, through to programming and final delivery. This gives him a complete

overview of the projects, from technical requirements to client expectations, without jeopardising the integrity of the structure.

Brian’s experience includes work on some of the most prestigious heritage schemes, such as the work undertaken at Seaton Delaval Hall for the National Trust, where detailed conservation work, including the restoration and preservation of stone flooring, was undertaken. Such schemes require accuracy, dedication, and a respect for traditional craftsmanship, all of which Brian undertakes in his work.

Leading Projects from Start to Finish

In his position as Contracts Manager at MGM Construction, Brian will be responsible for overseeing projects from pre-start through to completion. This includes liaising with clients and other key stakeholders, overseeing both site and off-site services, and ensuring that all elements of building work are conducted efficiently.

A key aspect of his role involves procurement and subcontractor management, ensuring that the right people and materials are in place to deliver the desired result. He has a structured and organised way of working, which ensures projects are delivered smoothly, with a strong emphasis on quality, programme, and budget.

Brian excels in managing restoration teams, as coordination and attention to detail are key to success in such roles. He balances the need for site-level practicality with contractual and operational needs to achieve a high standard of delivery.

Delivering Quality Through Experience

With a career spanning over three decades, Brian has built a reputation for delivering projects successfully and efficiently. He has experience in general construction as

well as specialised projects in the heritage sector, making him versatile to work with as his experience can be applied to a variety of project types. This provides added value to the clients as well as the project team.

He is known for his self-motivated and hands-on approach, as well as his ability to manage different aspects of a project at one time. This is an important asset in ensuring that a project is on track and that it is meeting specific performance requirements.

A Valued Addition to MGM Construction

Brian’s addition is another significant enhancement to the team’s ability to deliver premium quality projects that are technically complex, especially within the heritage industry. The combination of traditional craftsmanship knowledge and contemporary contract management expertise that Brian brings is a perfect fit with our organisation’s emphasis on delivering excellence.

Brian’s expertise will play an important role in enhancing our delivery across both specialist and heritage projects.
